10.26.08 Weekend Review
We had been praying that yesterday would be a life changing milestone for Westside and I believe it was. It was fulfilling to see people come to the altar with tears in their eyes and the desire to break the chains of unforgiveness in their lives.
Pastor Dan started the message walking out with a ball and chain (thanks to Jared's engineering) and he tied unforgiveness to the chains that hold us back.
At the end of the message he described how forgiveness will free us from our chains as he unlocked the shackle around his foot. We went into Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) by Chris Tomlin and people began to come forward and be healed of their unforgiveness. It was a moving time where you saw the freedom on their faces as they began to come down. It is amazing to see God do what only he can do in a person's life! Thank you to all the band and vocal team who went down and prayed with people as they were dealing with their unforgiveness.
The set we did was:
Holding Nothing Back
Everlasting God
Mighty to Save
We Shine
Ending on the upbeat song allowed pastor Dan the freedom to deliver a heavy message.

Interesting Flight Home
Cassie had a migraine come on as we were pulling up to Orlando int. So, i can imagine how aweful the trip home was for her.
I did finish the "Mr. And Mrs. Happy" book. That was a good fun, and recommendable read.
Also, here are a couple of cool pics. One is a cellphone charging station at Orlando Int. And the others are of the clever napkins that Air Tran provided to keep the salt from their "not enough to feed a 2-year old kid" pretzels.
Oh and one os the alligators at puttputt course in orlando during the 7 hrs we had to kill.

In the cabin
So the plan now... Is not to have one!
The other boat in the pics is the Disney cruise next to us.
Finally, the day is here.
Our flight was overbooked last night so our flight delayed in taking off wich made us late in getting to Orlando. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that Enterprise closes at midnight and their offices are a couple miles away rom the airport.
I caught the driver and he assured me they would wait. Thank you, Enterprise for waiting for us. And thank you, lady behind the counter for upgrading to the Jeep Commander, with the col key.
It is kinda weird not doing anything on a Sat. It is my only da on the weekend and my only day off, and I normaly hit it running with house errands and to dos. I am definitely looking forward to this week.
We are sitting at the Port Canaveral enterprise awaiting our shuttle. So, in the words of delirious: "Whoa, o o, here we go!"

Scary Stuff on the Radio
After that soundbyte, another one with a little kid singing "Obama will change the world..." When I heard that, my palms began to sweat. Are we putting our hope in a man? Are our kids and young people becoming brainwashed? This is a little too close to that for my comfort.
Then a soundbyte was played of Obama walking through a crowd shaking hands and in the background you could hear women screaming as if he was a rock star of some sort. Really people. I echo what Glen Beck said, as a nation "George Washington would turn in his grave if he heard that."
I wish, as a country, we would put our faith in a God as much as we have put our faith in a man. I am not endorsing either canidate in this post, but one man cannot change a nation.

Weekend Review :: 10.05.08
We started our series on Scandalous Grace last week and that brought on the busyness of the week. I had to make a bumper video on Tue and Wed. Then make frames for the foam core flats on Thurs, and then prepare for a rehearsal that night.
At 6p. on Thurs. Troy asked if I would like to sing "Holding Nothing Back," the Tim Hughes song. Of course, I had to say "yes." I love leading worship! So amongst the pile of things I had to get done, throw a pretty complicated song set with the keys and leading a song. Oh, and controlling the laptop for Sunday too! Wait, then coordinating volunteers to put up the flats for each service after the worship set, then hopping back on the Keys to "start" the special song that Jordan nailed.
I was definitely stretched on Sunday, and it worked! At least, I think it did :)
The services on Sunday each had their own unique feel. The 8:30 service felt like pulling teeth to get them engaged. It was delayed in starting because I had control of the click and I started it, but then, I stopped it cause I couldn't hear it. Well Duh, Robinson, plugin your ears!!!! The band could hear it, just not me. I then had to count the repeats because the track went right into the next song click and sequence and one too many repeats would throw us off. Anyway, we didn't have that happen again.
The 10a. started late too. But this time Troy's rig was only outputting to one amp. After trouble-shooting that we just went with the one side. That service ended up having great energy.
The 11:30 had the #1 Troy moment! Troy was teaching the congregation "Holding Nothing Back," when he got stuck on the "You gave everything ..." He tongue-tied himself and the next 90 secs. was hysterical! One thought to another from "don't drink and drive" to "I'm from Vegas." But the way he handled it broke of the apprehension of the morning the service took on a very synergistic atmosphere and when we hit "Grace Like Rain" it was amazing!
We had a unique twist to the opening. Jason wrote an opener that the band played one min before (that was the tune I messed the click up on in the 1st service). The keyboard parts for the day were pretty intricate, which was fun. At the end of "Holding Nothing Back," I intro'd "Hosanna" with the Rhodes... I love that thing! Then "Grace Like Rain" started with the pad. Thank Jason for throwing the keys some props this week. :) "Hookers and Robbers"... don't you love the fact that we sang a song entitled this in church?... started has a great key riff in it too.
It was a great day and the team was stretched and executed it in great form!
Here's the set for the day.
Service Intro
You Are My God (Troy Kennedy)
Holding Nothing Back (Tim Hughes)
Hosanna (Passion)
Grace Like Rain (Todd Agnew)
Hookers and Robbers (Charlie Hall)

09.28.08 Service Review
This was our last week in the series Covenants. Dan talked on making a covenant with the church. He made a good point: "a church worth attending is a church worth joining." The entire message however, was not a sales pitch on joining Westside. Dan preached on being a part of the "C" Church. Dan preached toward communion and led the congregation into it about 20 min into his message. At that point we had a moment of reflection as Troy vamped on the Guitar, then we sang a reprise of "Hosanna" and a short form of "Here I am to Worship." Dan then finished the message out. His action steps were mainly to the person that hasn't made a commitment to the church, whether it be joining, attending, or getting involved.
The weekend did have it's complications too. Although the rehearsals went great, there are some things you just cannot plan like a drummer getting sick. All morning our drummer was not feeling good and after the first service Jason (our Music Director) told him to go home and get better - it was that bad. So after playing drums for the Venue service, I played for the communion at the 1st service and then played out the rest of the morning, without rehearsing. Good thing I knew the songs well enough. I did forget to double the intro vamp on "Rise" at the end of the 1st service. By the end of the morning, I would say I had all the songs down. :)
The 5pm went great too. Alex Gingles played guitar and I was able to play the Rhodes. Man, that sounds awesome on "Hosanna." We started it with the Rhodes, and all I can say is that thing melts me. It sounds so good!
The set list for Sunday was:
All Because Of Jesus (Radio Mix)
You Are My God
Hosanna (Album Version)
Message
Communion
Hosanna (Album Version)
Here I Am To Worship (Our Love Is Loud Album Version)
Message Closing
Rise
